Biography

Dr Packer is a Principal Clinical Psychologist for the South London Community Forensic CAMHS (FCAMHS) team, a community adolescent forensic mental health service for young people who present a risk of harm to others. FCAMHS is a predominantly consultation service, offering advice and support for multiagency colleagues in the formulation, care planning and risk management of complex cases.

Dr Packer is a practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council, a chartered psychologist and on the Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors with the British Psychological Society. She achieved a BSc in Psychology at Loughborough University and later completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) at University College London.

She has previously worked in the South East Forensic CAMHS service, community adolescent forensic teams (ARTS, Lewisham), forensic adult inpatient services and with young people experiencing challenges with their mental health and with substance use. She works directly with young people, offering assessment and intervention and systemically, supporting their wider care network to better understand the needs and behaviour of a young person and using this to inform care and risk management planning. She has delivered teaching, workshops, and presented at conferences to mental health, education, social care, police and youth justice professionals and is passionate about supporting ways to work jointly across agencies to best support young people and their families.
